Fire Education

Elementary students play, "Are You Smarter Than A Fire Cadet?" and work their way to Fire Chief status.

Glenvil firefighters, David Hinrichs, Sharon Radabaugh, Blake Krull and Jamie Schmidt, spent the day with Sandy Creek on Friday, October 10th to finish off National Fire Education Week.  Each grade had seperate learning experiences ranging from basic fire prevention skills of "Stay Low and Go," to learning about fire science and the history of Smokey Bear and National Fire Education week.  Two science experiments were observed as students learned why firefighters must understand the fire tetrahedron, so they know how to properly extinguish all types of different fires.  The students had a lot of hand-ons opportunities, throughout the day.  Older students showed the expertise with fire extinguishers or by playing the game, "Are You Smarter Than a Fire Cadet?"  The Glenvil Firefighters would like to thank all of the classroom teachers and especially Mr. Grueber for his help throughout the day and for sharing Music time.
