Red Raider Wrestling Invite 2014

Congratulations to the Red Raider wrestlers for bringing home the tournament Runner-Up Trophy.  There were many special moments Friday night in the gym as Sandy Creek hosted its first home wrestling tournament in over a decade.  Logan Searle received his 100th career win to join the Wall of Fame with Austin Hoy, Taylor Hancock and last year's teammate Dawson Messenger.  Our freshman phenom for the night turned out to be Hunter Rempe, as this young novice pinned his way to the tournament championship in the Heavyweight Bracket.  Not a small feat for such a young wrestler.  Logan Searle, Gayvn Buschkoetter and Jimmy Mazour would also bring home tournament titles.  Returning state qualifier Kaleb Shafer had a tough match against Sutton rival Tyler Bailey who received his 103 career pin at the tournament, this earned Tyler his school title.  So a second place finish behind this excellent wrestler is no small task either.  Other medal winners included Ryan Haack, Gregg Pavelka, Robert Lauby and Dallas Bruning.

The tournament was a great success as it was the first time to be ran by Brett Dorcey with Track Wrestling.  Red Raider alumni came home from all over the state to support their team and help with the tournament.  Thank you to former head coach Dale Fike and alumni TJ Cusatis, Nick Statz (cheering on his step-son), Trevor DeVries, Calvin DeVries, Taylor Hancock, Ryan Pavelka, Stasia Wagner and Brandon Ward for the help and all of the cheers. The team would also like to give a special thanks to all of the faculty and staff that attended and helped with the tournament.  Working together as a team made this special return back home a special night for everyone.
