Band fundraising to the max
SC band sells cups and cookie dough to raise money
Band members at Sandy Creek high school are knocking on doors to fundraise for the start of a new tradition. Band instructor Mr. Brandon Baxter is planning a trip to a Kansas City Band Festival at Worlds of Fun on May 12th. The band sold cookie dough and tumblers to raise funds for band trips. Not only will the funds they raised go towards the upcoming KC trip, students will also be able to use the extra money to have a little fun by riding rides at Worlds of Fun later in the day.
“The fundraiser was a big help to the band; I was motivated to sell more items because the fundraiser was very rewarding. After selling so many items we get a prize, and the prizes got better and better the more items you sold,” said Jordan Kempf, sophomore saxophonist.
The band students had 2 weeks to raise money. Taking part of that time in class to call friends and family to ask for their support. Baxter pushed the students to sell as many tubs of cookie dough and tumblers as possible. In the end, the group raised roughly raised 6 thousand dollars between the high school and middle school, making the fundraiser a success.
“I see great potential in these students, I want to reward them and give them more opportunities in the future. They did a great job raising this money that will be spent on the students, so they can have new experiences,” said Baxter.
