SC falls to STC in first round of districts

On Monday the Cougars battled the St. Celecia Hawketts for an opportunity to proceed forwards in the first round of districts. The Cougars had a rough start, and the Hawketts took the first set 25-15. But the Cougars came back strong in the second set playing better as a team. Even with better cooperation, the Hawketts stole the set 28-26. The cougars kept pace in the third set but ultimately lost 25-19.

Mr. Levi Gorsuch, head coach of the Cougar volleyball team, was proud of how the girls played this year.

“The last game didn’t go how we wanted it to, but I’m really proud of how the girls played and what we accomplished this season,” said Gorsuch.

The match was a disappointing end to the season, but despite the loss, the Cougars were proud of how they played all year.

Addison Kuta, senior volleyball player and right side hitter, said “The game on Monday was my last senior volleyball game, and although it didn’t end the way that I wanted, I still feel that we had a great season this year. I had a lot of fun with my teammates, and I wouldn’t have ever wanted to play this last season with anyone else. We grew very close and have had lots of fun memories that I know will last forever.”
