Literacy Night 2016 was a Success

All-You-Can-Eat Pancakes, Free Books, and More!

Lawrence/Nelson Elementary students and their families were invited to take part in the first Literacy Night at our elementary on Tuesday, November 29th, where students started the night off with pig-shaped pancakes (they were even pink!) served by the Raider Involved Parent Support group, celery and peanut butter, fruit cups, and juice.  Following this, students reported to three different stations ranging from a pig balloon race in kindergarten, pig bingo, paper plate pigs, basketball P-I-G, pig ornaments with their favorite book inside, and pin-the-nose on the pig.

Thank you to all of the families that came out and supported our Family Literacy Night.  We have almost every student reaching that 80% accelerated reader goal in the second quarter, and are set to celebrate in Kearney on Friday, December 9th.  If every single student in the elementary reaches their goal by December 15th, Mrs. Epley has to kiss a pig at the elementary concert on this night!
