Clay County Spelling Bee

The 2017 Clay County Spelling Contest was held at the Sandy Creek Middle School on Wednesday, February 15th at 3pm. Participating schools were Harvard Public School, Sutton Christian School, Sutton Public School and Sandy Creek Elementary and Sandy Creek Middle School.

 

1st place winners received a plaque with their name on it and a certificate.

2nd,, 3rd & 4th place winners received a ribbon and a certificate.

 

5th Grade

            1st Place – Kaleb Whitmore – Sandy Creek Elementary                     

            2nd Place – Tori Peterson – Sutton Public School                   

            3rd Place – Zach Corman – Sandy Creek Elementary

            4th Place – Devon Griess – Sutton Public School       

 

6th Grade

            1st Place – Rubi Hernandez – Harvard Public School            

            2nd Place – Chenille Clark – Sutton Public School       

            3rd Place – Rivers Bergen – Sutton Christian School 

            4th Place – Itzamna Diaz – Sandy Creek Middle School         

 

7th Grade

            1st Place – Grace Eastin – Harvard Public School     

            2nd Place – Shelby Dietz – Sutton Public School

            3rd Place – Jaylin Sutton – Sandy Creek Middle School

            4th Place – Jadon Hester – Harvard Public School                 

 

8th Grade

            1st Place – Ashley Nierman – Harvard Public School             

            2nd Place – Sam VonSpreckelsen – Sandy Creek Middle School                  

            3rd Place – Payton Clark – Sutton Public School                     

            4th Place – Ben Okraska – Harvard Public School                 

 

The 1st and 2nd place winners in all 4 grade levels have the opportunity to go on to the District Spelling Contest in Fairbury, Nebraska at the Fairbury Jr-Sr High School on Saturday, March 4th

 

The 1st place winner of the 8th grade level, Ashley Nierman from Harvard Public School, will have the opportunity to represent Clay County in the Omaha World Herald Midwest Spelling Bee at the Omaha Public School Teacher Administration Building on Saturday, March 11th.
