HS Track Franklin Invitational

On Tuesday April 4th, the Lawrence/Nelson High School Track team, went to the Franklin Invitational. Freshman ,Trevin Kotinek ,placed 3rd in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 19.50. In Shot Put Freshman, Kyle Golay, placed 3rd with a distance of 41-01.50. Senior, Wyatt Heikkinen, also placed 2nd in Shot Put with a distance of 43-00.50. Heikkinen had also placed 5th in Discus with a distance of 112-07. Sophomore, Jacob Sharp, placed in the 400M Dash and High Jump. In the 400M Dash, Sharp placed 3rd with a time of 56.60 and in High Jump placed 3rd with a distance of 5-06.00. Senior, Colton Biltoft, placed 6th in High Jump with a distance of 5-04-00. He also placed 6th in Long Jump with a distance of 18-05.25. The boys ended the day 6th out of 9 teams with a total of 46 points. The girls also had a successful meet. Freshman, Karigan Drudik, placed in three events. Those events included the 100M Hurdles, Long Jump and the 300M Hurdles. Drudik placed 6th in Long Jump with a distance of 13-11.5, 3rd in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 17.5 and 3rd in the 300M Hurdles with a time of 52.7. Freshman, Annie McCartney, placed 1st in the 800M Dash with a time of 2:39.7. Sophomore, KaLee Fanning, placed 5th in the 800M Dash with a time of 2:56.5. Senior, Molly McCartney, placed in the 1600M Run and the 3200 M Run. She placed 1st in the 1600 M Run with a time of 5:42.7 and placed 1st in the 3200 M Run with a time of 12:16.4. The girls ended of the day with a total of 61 points. When I asked Jacob Sharp about how he thought his team did he replied, “Everyone else did really good, Molly just about broke a record, which was exciting for all of us." The next track meet is on Thursday, April 13th at Deshler.
