State Track and State Golf Competitors
Congrats and Good Luck!
The district has seven athletes headed to the State Track Meet and two headed to State Golf...congrats!
District Golf on May 15th, 2017, found Lawrence/Nelson junior Kevin Schroer shooting an 84 and finishing in 5th place, making a back-to-back state appearance while teammate and fellow L/N classmate Peyton Drudik shot a 92 and finished in 10th place. Both qualified for the State Golf Meet in North Platte on May 23rd and May 24th at Lake Maloney Golf Course. The team place 4th overall, just one out of qualifying the team for State! Great job, Coach Niederklein!
We also have seven competing at the State Track Meet on May 19th and 20th (six from Lawrence/Nelson and one from Sandy Creek):
- Friday at 3:30 PM: 3200 M Relay (Annie McCartney, Molly McCartney, Joanie Schultz, KaLee Fanning and alternate Karigan Drudik) and senior Wyatt Heikkinen in the shot put.
- Friday at 6:25 PM: Senior Molly McCartney will be trying for a back-to-back State Championship in the 3200 M Run.
- Saturday at 8:30 AM: Junior Coree Lipovsky will be competing in the shot put, where she broke the school record, throwing 41' 2.25" at Districts.
- Saturday at 1:45 PM: McCartney will also be trying for her third consecutive state championship in the 1600 M Run.
We are having a send off for the Lawrence/Nelson track team as they will leave Nelson at 3:30 PM. Students/staff will line the south side of the triangle at 3:30 PM and cheer on the track team as they are escorted out of town by the fire truck. The community is invited to line Main Street and cheer on the team as they leave town as well.
