FFA Concession Stand Workers for 2017 Nuckolls County Fair

July 7th and 8th, 2017

The Lawrence/Nelson FFA Chapter will be running the concession stand for the 2017 Nuckolls County Fair on July 7th and 8th in Nelson at the faigrounds.  All officers are required to attend the mandatory clean up night and training on Thursday, July 6th at 6:30 PM.  Parents are still needed to help sponsor as the students can not run the grill or the fryers.  All of those working in the concession stand are asked to wear close-toed shoes and a clean ball cap.  Those not working their assigned shift will need to reimburse the FFA chapter $25.  For a full list of who is working and the times they have been assigned to, click HERE.

Students interested in earning their state degrees are also reminded that they must have TWO recordbooks fully completed and $3,000 that is either earned or invested in their SAE project.  Anyone who is a senior can apply for his/her state degree, but needs to contact Mrs. Trausch before August 1st to receive the degree this upcoming school year.  State degrees are due to Mrs. Trausch no later than January 22nd, and interviews will be held in Blue Hill on February 3rd and February 7th.  The goal is to have all of the interviews on Saturday, February 3rd.  Those interested in earning their state degrees will have record books checked monthly by Mrs. Trausch.

Junior record books are due by October 6th and senior record books are due by January 16th.  All applications and paperwork for the recordbooks will need to be printed out and put into a binder (provided by the L/N FFA Chapter), and turned in by January 22nd.  Please contact Mrs. Trausch to arrange a time that she can come and visit with the FFA member and his/her parents at the place of the student's SAE project.

The FFA Kick-Off Party is scheduled for August 4th at 6:30 PM in Lawrence at the baseball field.  Here, we will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, and students are responsible for bringing the following:

  • 9th & 10th graders:  side dish
  • 11th & 12th graders:  dessert item

The officers are responsible for letting everyone know further information on this party -- so bring your swimsuit (as we will be at the pool as well), and come and enjoy an evening of playing games and eating.

Other important events/dates:

  • SAE Workdays.  SAE work days will be on July 14th from 9 AM to 11 AM in Lawrence, and one prior to the kick-off party at 5:30 PM.
  • National Convention.  This will be held in Indianapolis, IN on October 25th - 28th.  Please let Mrs. Trausch know prior to August if you are interested in going, as well as talking to your coaches if you play a fall sport.
  • Remind 101 Group.  If you have not yet joined the L/N FFA Remind 101 group, please do so today!  To join text the number "81010" to @lnf on  your cell phone, and you will start to receive FFA reminders/information via text.

If you need to reach Mrs. Trausch over the summer, please call her cell at 402.469.0216, or email her at mtrausch@southcentralunified.org.  If your parents or another adult has a strong FFA background and a desire to help prepare our students for competition, please have them reach out to Mrs. Trausch!  We appreciate any/all support of our students in their FFA chapter, and getting involved is a great way of doing so!  We also have a strong FFA Alumni Chapter that we would encourage you to join as well!
