FBLA Pilots Community Service Project to Feed Local Families

Lawrence/Nelson Also Helping with COATS FOR KIDS

The Lawrence/Nelson FBLA chapter is piloting a community service project called Community Care Baskets.  The goal of this project is to award deserving families with a holiday food basket to feed their household.  Students were inspired to create this project based on the Career and Technical Student Organization state project, Feed Nebraska.  Throughout this project students are encouraged to find ways to help provide assistance to those that need it.

The chapter is asking for assistance from the surrounding communities.  You can help by nominating a deserving family (experiencing hardship or ANY other reason) by filling out the form on this website: https://tinyurl.com/y9grrlkf . The goal is to award as many families as possible.  Nominations will be accepted until December 6th.

Because the baskets will be filled with meat and all of the trimmings, the chapter also needs help fundraising.  Donations to help support a basket can be dropped off at either Lawrence/Nelson elementary with Angie Kathman or at the middle school/high school to Pam Wehrman.  Please make a note that the donation is for FBLA.  We appreciate the support of our surrounding communities.

If you have questions about the project please contact Ashley Wit, FBLA adviser, at Lawrence/Nelson MS-HS at 225-3371 or by email awit@southcentralunified.org.

In addition to this, the organization is helping with COATS FOR KIDS.  This project is made possible through donations from Knights of Columbus, Superior Mothers Club, Superior Area PEO, and individual donors with support from the Community Action Partnership, Superior Community Corp., Inc., Superior Jr. - Sr. High School, and the Lawrence/Nelson FBLA.
