Golay Finishes High School Early; Enlisted in the Army

Kory Golay, a senior at Lawrence/Nelson High School, finished his high school credits early after enlisting in the Army earlier this school year.

As a senior, Golay will tell you that he didn’t always follow the route of others while in high school.  While he knew that sitting in a classroom was something he was going to have to do in order to earn his high school diploma, it wasn’t something that he particularly enjoyed.  This was all the more motivation for him to finish early and put himself out in “the real world.”  However, Golay’s real world will look much different than most graduating seniors, as he will be leaving home as early as January 2018 to serve in the Army, starting out at the U.S. Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, Georgia

Golay is one of two seniors in the South Central Unified School District #5 to take this route.  Kevin Johnson, a senior from Sandy Creek High School who also attended Lawrence/Nelson in his earlier years, has also opted to finish high school early after enlisting in the Army.

Golay is the son of Dwight and Debbie Sole, and a brother to Cody, Kayla, Kyle, Jordin and Jessica.
