Lady Raiders to Begin Season Against C-2 State Champion
Hoping for the same start & a different ending to the 2018 season
Launch the media gallery 1 player"We not me" is the quote for the 2018 volleyball season. With 19 wins on the schedule last year, and 19 on the roster this year, the team will begin their season against the C-2 State Champion Superior Wildcats on Thursday, August 30th, at home, with JV beginning at 6:30 and varsity at 7:30 PM. The Lady Raiders hope to start their season just as they did last year, with a win against the Wildcats, but are hoping for a different ending, as it was unarguably one of the best games the team played all year.
With seven of the returning players having started at one time or another last year, the coaching staff has lots of options to choose from as situations change from game to game. Most leaders in statistical categories are back from last season and with another year of maturity and experience, the hope for an improved season runs high among the fans and the team. Ten upperclassmen have something that the Raiders have not had for a couple of years with this wealth of experience.

- Juniors: Karigan Drudik, Hallie Epley, Taylor Harrington, Annie McCartney, Allison Miller, Haley Williams
- Sophomores: Savannah Ford, Avery Mazour, Emily Miller, Tori Miller, McKenzie Ostdiek
- Freshmen: Kylie Beard, Emma Epley, Aleah Heikkinen, and Elsa Jorgensen
With several C-2 teams on the schedule, and starting the first two games of the season against teams with a combined 43-16 win-loss record last season (Superior and Friend), the season will definitely start out with some of the toughest teams the Lady Raiders are expected to see this season.

Coaches Jamie Lay and Michelle Harrington held a scrimmage on Friday, August 17th, wherein team members signed their first ever "Commitment Contract" -- committing themselves to teamwork and supporting each other, regardless of the win or loss on the court. Our fans and families are encouraged to do the same: let's make the girls loud and proud to play for Lawrence/Nelson!
