State Track 2019

LN Sends 11 and SC Sends 2 to the State Meet

Sandy Creek sent two to the State Track Meet held at Omaha Burke on May 17th and 18th, 2019:  sophomore Jenna Heinz in Triple Jump and freshman Leah Hatch in Long Jump, 100 and 200 M dashes.

Lawrence/Nelson had 11 qualify in the following events:

  • Freshman Emma Epley in 100 M High Hurdles and Logan Menke in the 3200 M Relay (both 1st time state qualifiers)
  • Sophomore Cole Troudt (1st time state qualifier) in the 3200 M Relay
  • Juniors Kyle Golay (1st time state qualifier) in Shot Put, Annie McCartney (3 time state qualifier) in the 800 M Run and 3200 M Relay, Joanie Schultz (3 time state qualifier) in the 800 M Run and 3200 M Relay, Karigan Drudik (2 time state qualifier) in the High Jump and 3200 M Relay
  • Seniors Jacob Sharp (2 time state qualifier) in High Jump, KaLee Fanning (4 time state qualifier) in the 3200 M Run, Jayden Jorgensen (1st time state qualifier) in the 3200 M Relay, Lane Heikkinen (1 time state qualifier) in the 3200 M Relay.

Other highlights of the LN season include Kyle Golay breaking the school record in shot pot with a throw of 52' 5.5", breaking the record of his own throwing coach, Logan Schnitker.  Kyle placed third at the State Track Meet with a throw of 51' 0.75".

The LN Track Team had numerous top four finishes during the season, including at Districts, the Russ Snyder Invite, TVC, Del Wicks, Kenesaw, Franklin and Red Cloud.  Individual and team finishes for the season are linked HERE.

At the junior high level, the District had Sadie Rempel qualify for the State Meet, where she placed 7th in Pole Vault at a jump of 8'6", and McKenzie Bohlen, who placed 14th and jumped 7'6" at the Junior High State Meet in Gothenburg.
