Kids from the healthcare organization, HOSA, from Sandy Creek and Lawerence/Nelson attended a day-long seminar at Broadstone Hospital. The students heard from a variety of healthcare professionals including nurses, physical therapists, hospital kitchen staff, lab technicians, and many more. They were informed about what their job looked like on a day-to-day basis, where they could work in the field, and what kind of training it took to become that particular professional. Kids did some hands-on learning including how to give CPR, put stitches in "injured" bananas, and insert a foley catheter. The hospital also graciously provided a delicious meal for all students. To wrap up the day, a tour of the hospital was provided. Students enjoyed the hospital’s Starbucks and even had karaoke on the way back to school!
