Elementary Reading Celebration
October 17th, our elementary students were transported back in time with the help of Dr. Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. These two amazing gentlemen, two of our most important Founding Fathers, explained the Revolutionary times. Dr. Franklin talked about his many discoveries and the importance of reading. Mr. Jefferson engaged students in numerous colonial games, lessons in agriculture, topography and more. Students celebrated the importance of reading with the author of the Declaration of Independence, founder of the University of Virginia and President of the United States, Mr. Jefferson. Students celebrated the importance of learning with the inventor of the lightening rod, founder of the first volunteer fire department, author and publisher of Poor Richard's Almanac, Dr. Benjamin Franklin. Dr. Franklin left all the kids with a bit of wisdom, "Read books, play games and ask questions." Wise words, from a very wise gentleman indeed.
