As a chapter, we have not yet hosted an event for the school. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to host our back to school dance welcoming all 6-12 grade students back to school. We were able to hold our annual fundraiser by selling ButterBraids, a local favorite pastry. The members did well selling these and it continues to be a great money maker for the group. Officers and members ran the concession stand for the Diller/Odell football game to help raise funds as well.
The annual pumpkin decorating contest was modified a bit this year and rather than decorating a real pumpkin, elementary students decorated a paper pumpkin. We will be awarding the top 10 pumpkins a prize. There are a few virtual competitions being hosted this year that we will likely partake in, one being in December. After considering whether or not to host our Turkey Trot 5k run, we decided to cancel the event this year. We are looking at other ways to raise funds for the FBLA Foundation.
This year has presented many new challenges but the officer team has risen to the challenge and continues to lead by example. In December we will again be collecting food items for families in need of a holiday dinner basket. FBLA is also partnering with FFA & HOSA to sponsor the backpack program, which will begin in January.
