Ostdiek Receives RHOP Scholarship through Chadron State College
Interviews for two RHOPS and the KHOP are underway
Launch the media gallery 1 playerCongratulations to Lawrence/Nelson senior McKenzie Ostdiek, who learned on January 14th, 2021, that she was a recipient of the Chadron State College Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) and also interviewed for the RHOP at Wayne State College, and will interview for the KHOP program at UNK next week! Three interviews in a short amount of time that all include:
- full tuition
- guaranteed admission to the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC)
- early registration privileges, and
- opportunities to visit UNMC during her time in undergrad.
Rural communities make up a majority of Nebraska. They are the lifeblood of the state and deserve quality medical care. Established and successful for over 25 years, the Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) is a special cooperative program between state colleges and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) to meet that need. As a citizen of rural Nebraska, McKenzie has experienced the rural lifestyle, and knows the unique needs of our community. That's why colleges are recruiting Nebraskans like her - because they are dedicated to their home state and care about its rural health care needs. The KHOP and RHOP programs represent that commitment and will prepare McKenzie to return to rural Nebraska and care for its citizens as a pharmacist, an area she has been studying as part of her NCAPS experience.
McKenzie is the daughter of Ken and Shannon Ostdiek of rural Lawrence. Congratulations, McKenzie!
