Coby Ashton James Ward- Senior Spotlight

Coby Ward, son of Maelynda Bussart and Shawn Lintz, was born on May 30th, 2003. Coby is one of several siblings including, brother Brandon (25), sister Maekayla (24), sister Maekenzy (21), sister Joey (17), sister Elliot (10), and brother Degan (9). When asked who has made the biggest impact on his life thus far, Coby said that honor goes to his mother. “Without her influence throughout my life, I would not be the person I am today.”

The most memorable vacation that Coby has gone on was when he went to Denver, Colorado. It was the first time in such a big city and he enjoyed being able to see different parts of the city. Coby’s favorite childhood memory was when his dad came home with a trailer with a swing set on it. “It was really memorable because it was such a big surprise at a time when my family was pretty pressed for cash.”

As a child, Coby’s least favorite household chore was taking out the trash. “We lived on the second story of our apartment building and carrying heavy bags of trash down many flights of stairs isn’t fun to me.” Coby’s favorite holiday is Halloween because people get to dress up however they want and no one really cares. Coby mentioned that his favorite place to eat is his own kitchen. “I am able to choose/make exactly what I want and I don’t have to pay someone.” Being interested in the culinary arts, Coby can make many things, but his favorite food to eat and make is meatloaf.

When it comes to school, Coby brings a lot of commentary and laughter to the classroom. He mentioned that history is his favorite subject. “I love learning about interesting events from the past.” Coby’s favorite extracurricular activity is theater. He has been involved in theater, behind the scenes, at almost every school that he has attended. This year he was a part of the dinner theater’s stage crew. “I really like the connection with my friends and other members of the theater group.”

Coby’s advice for the underclassmen is to not worry about the future, “just focus on your schooling and enjoy high school as best you can.” After graduation, Coby plans to attend Central Community College in Hastings and major in the culinary arts. In the future, he hopes to move to the west coast, preferably somewhere up north and hopes to have a good position in a restaurant.
