McKenzie Ann Ostdiek- Senior Spotlight

McKenzie Ostdiek, daughter of Kenneth and Shannon Ostdiek, was born on November 17th, 2002. She has one younger brother, freshman Nolan Ostdiek. McKenzie’s most favorite childhood memory was when she would play princess dress-up with her little brother. “It was memorable because it was fun and we would create fun videos while we were dressed up.” Her most memorable vacation was when she went to Disney World with her family.

Christmas is McKenzie’s favorite holiday. “It is such a happy time of year and is so family-focused.” She also mentioned that the person who has made the biggest impact on her life thus far has been her mom. “My mom supports me in everything that I do and has taught me to always do my best, even when I do not enjoy it.” As you can see, McKenzie is very family-centered and enjoys being close with loved ones.

McKenzie is very dedicated to her academics and extracurricular activities. Math is her favorite subject because it comes easy to her and she enjoys that there is always a correct answer every time. McKenzie is involved in many extracurricular activities and mentioned that track is her favorite sport. “I enjoy running and I am able to hang out with my friends at track meets.” She commented that the accomplishment she is most proud of is being inducted into the National Honor Society. “I have always been very driven in my studies and it feels like a pat on the back since all of my hard work paid off.” McKenzie also enjoys other activities outside of school, including riding her horse and reading. “I enjoy these activities because they allow me to relax and it helps to relieve stress.”

McKenzie’s advice for the underclassmen is to use every resource the school provides them and to set their goals high. “Do everything you can, to be the best image of yourself.” After graduating high school, McKenzie plans on attending the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She will be a part of the KHOP learning community and plans to pursue a career in pharmacy.
