The policy was based on a model policy drafted by NDE and our legal counsel to keep the school district in compliance with the law, so no changes are necessary,

The policy was updated in 2020 by the BOE and reviewed in 2022.

SCNUSD #5 will continue to follow NDE and/or legal counsel guidance in order to be in compliance with Federal Law.  

USDA wellness policy goals outline that 3 goals must be included,

1. nutrition goal, 2) physical activity goal, and 3) other student wellness goal, additional goals are optional

All SCNUSD #5  kitchens will serve locally grown beef at least once a week in the schools

Yes

All cafeterias were able to serve home raised beef in all the schools at least once a week for the past three years.

One school even served it more than once a week.

SCNUSD #5 will provide mental health support to all staff

 Yes

District provided mental health support to staff who were in need of extra support through a licenced counselor for the past three years. 

 Wholeness Healing provided free individual counseling to staff members in need
