Sandy Creek journalism students are 2014 State Runner Ups
Congratulations to the Sandy Creek Journalism team for their 2014 Class C State Runner Up title.
To compete for a journalism state title, students in Miss Collinson's Journalism Class and Mrs. Hassenstab's Graphic Art class submitted entries of articles and graphics written and created for the school Uproar and Yearbook publications. There are several state categories that students can submit entries for and complete in. Entries are judged at the state level and placed either 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the class. As well as recieving individual class placings, students are placed in All-Class rankings to be able to compete in the All Class Journalism Competition.
Students placing in the Class C events:
- Advertising: Kaylee Fike (1st Place)
- Editorial Cartooning: Celine Fries (2nd Place)
- Editorial Writing: Celine Fries (3rd Place)
- Newspaper Feature Writing: Cara Felber (1st Place)
- Newspaper Layout: Natasha Anderson (1st Place), Hope Rademacher (3rd Place)
- Photo Illustration: Hope Rademacher (1st Place), Natasha Anderson (2nd Place), Rebecca Schnakenberg (3rd Place)
- Sports Feature Writing: Emily Blome (1st Place)
- Sports/Action Photography: Lindsey Hinrichs (1st Place)
- Yearbook Layout: Hope Rademacher (1st Place), Derek Brooks (3rd Place)

Those students who placed first in the class competition or who ranked in the top 12 submissions overall in all classes also compete in the All-Class Journalism State Competition on May 12. The following students will be competing:
- Kaylee Fike-Advertising
- Cara Felber-News Feature Writing
- Natasha Anderson-Newspaper Layout
- Emily Blome-Sports Feature Writing
- Hope Rademacher-Yearbook Layout
In addition to competition there are a couple straight-to-final categories. Hope Rademacher received 3rd Place All-Class and will recieve an All-Class State Medal for her Photo Illustration. Lindsey Hinrichs placed 10th All-Class for Sports/Action Photography.
