TeamMates annual fundraiser and raffle a success

Funds help the program grow

Friday, December 2 during the Sandy Creek vs. Centura basketball game TeamMates hosted their annual fundraising raffle and dinner, forgoing soup in favor of country fried steak for the first time. This event was held from 5 to 8 p.m. to raise money and funding for group activities, student matches and an annual scholarship.

“I really enjoyed the meal and the service from those who were working; they were kind and very helpful. There were a lot of positive comments about the meal and the program it self,” said senior Tae Binder.

TeamMates is an organization that supports and encourages youth, so the TeamMates program encouraged its members to come out and enjoy food and activities while serving food and selling raffle tickets to customers.

“This event was a great success, the food and dinner was enjoyed by many that came out to support the Teammates mentoring program. We would like to thank all the business and individuals that donate things for the raffle,” said Teammates sponsor Mrs. Brenda Searle.

Typically, this event is held January, but this year the group took a new approach and held their annual event on the first friday in December due to the projected construction projects. While Searle considers the event a success, the group raised less money than last year, but plans to continue hosting this fundraiser in the future.
