Career Pathways and Important ACT Information

Some parents previously signed a permission form for their child(ren) to drive to meet with their business mentor.  We now have the "official" consent forms for visiting off-campus and driving off-campus that we are asking all parents to please sign and return.

Many  students visited with their mentors for the first time on Friday, February 3rd, and because there is no school on Friday, February 10th, many are set to visit again on Friday, February 17th.  On Friday, February 24th, we will be having college representatives at both sites, so visits will be limited on this date.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE ACT FOR ALL JUNIORS:

On April 19th all Juniors will be taking the ACT as part of State Testing.  The ACT replaces the NeSa that Juniors were required to take in previous years.  The ACT will be a paper/pencil test administered by Mrs. Wit and myself at the school.  Mr. Hild will administer tests for students who have accommodations.  We request that all juniors be at school on this date unless a student has to be absent due to illness or an emergency.  If students are absent on April 19th, we will have to schedule a make-up date as it is a state requirement that they take the test.  Students perform better on tests if they have a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast.

Juniors have access to The ACT Online Prep, which includes a practice test.  I have attached information on the ACT Online Prep.  It would benefit students to use this tool to prepare for the ACT.  As a school we will also be using the John Baylor Test Prep prior to the April 19th test date.

Below is a link to the ACT Online Test Prep.  Your login information is:
School Email
Password:  abcd   followed by the student's lunch number.  If the lunch number is one digit, you will need to put a 0 in front of the number.

If you have difficulty logging in, please contact Connie Porter at cporter@southcentralunified.org, or stop in her office, and she will assist you.
