Juniors Across the State to take the ACT on April 19th

Test Prep Occurring at Both LN and SC

The SCNUSD #5 is taking active measures to help our juniors be successful on the April 19th ACT taken at their home school sites during school time. In 2016, the Nebraska state legislature approved the national ACT (American College Testing) exam as the Nebraska State Assessment for all juniors across the state of Nebraska.  This exam will replace the 11th grade NeSA Reading, Math, Science and Writing Assessments that have been given in previous years.

The decision to move to the ACT exam for State Assessment will provide several advantages for students.  Students will have a college reportable test score available to them, all test fees are paid by the state, the district will register the juniors, and testing will take place AT THEIR HOME SCHOOL SITE and DURING school hours!  The ACT test includes sub-tests in the following areas:  English, Math, Reading, Science, Writing.  All 11th grade students will be taking the ACT on April 19th, 2017, with a practice test occuring at both sites prior to this (Mar. 22nd at LN and Mar. 29th at SC). We are excited to offer this opportunity for your student.  Results from the ACT test allow students and parents to identify individual areas of academic strength and areas for growth, and will provide the school with student learning data to guide adjustments to curriculum and offerings. Additionally, the ACT test scores will provide you with information about your student’s progress toward college readiness.
