- To orient the SMART Board, locate the help button on the pen tray. The first icon that appears in the help menu will enable you to orient your interactive whiteboard. You can also press both keys on the pen tray and it will go directly to the orientation page.
- If the projected image shimmers, you may have turned on the computer before the projector. Try turning off the system and restarting it. Make sure the computer’s resolution setting matches the resolution of the projector.
- A small piece of strong tape on the underside of the eraser tray will prevent the eraser form being easily knocked off. - Submitted by Andy Davis, Fred Longworth High School, UK
- To erase an entire section, make a complete circle around the area with the eraser and then tap in the center of your circle.

- If hands are sweaty, you may use a mallet instead of your finger. This also helps with areas difficult to reach. - Submitted by Shawnea’ Jackson, Music Specialist in the U.S.
- For students who have difficulty dragging objects, have them put one finger on the object you want to move. Keep that finger on the object and touch the interactive whiteboard with your other hand to the location you want to move the object to. While still touching the whiteboard where you want the object, remove the finger touching the object and it will zoom to where you want it to go. - Submitted y Peter Kent, Australia
Maintenance
- Periodically clean the projector lens with lens paper to keep image clear.
- If permanent maker is accidentally used on the SMART Board, retrace the mark with a dry-erase marker and wipe it off with a cloth.
- Clean the surface of the SMART Board with EXPO marker board cleaner or with Windex Glass and Surface Cleaner
