TeamMates Program
Our Sandy Creek TeamMates program works with 30 students (grades 3-12) and 30 adults from our community to help form positive and safe relationships. Each Mentee (student) is paired with a Mentor (adult). They meet with each other at school about 30 minutes each week to strengthen their relationship and provide a positive and safe friendship. Some of the enjoyable activities include, eating lunch together, playing basketball, playing cards, making crafts, baking goodies, taking group field trips together, carving pumpkins, playing board games such as Battleship or Connect 4. If you would like to donate any board games please let Brenda Searle know.
Dr. Tom Osborne and his wife Nancy, started a mentoring program in 1991 with 22 UNL football players and 22 Lincoln middle school students, has grown to reach over 10,000 matches and 160 local chapters, including ours at Sandy Creek.
